Softness Guide

The Fold Low Profile Convertible Couch with 16-Position Configurations is Rated a 3: Balanced Comfort

Find your Just-Right seat

At Coddle, all of our sofas are built to last—with premium materials, reinforced frames, and high-resilience foam that holds its shape for years to come. That’s why our seat cushions are intentionally crafted with a firmer feel at first. Why? Because quality foam softens gradually with use, ensuring long-term comfort and shape retention. So whether you prefer plush or structured support, you’ll get comfort that only gets better with time.

Find Your Just-Right Seat

1. Ultra Plush (Mattress Toppers Only)
This level of softness is reserved for our mattress toppers—not our sofas. It’s cloud-like, body-hugging comfort designed specifically for sleep surfaces, not everyday seating.

2. Soft with Support
Our softest sofa seat. You’ll still sink in, but with a hint of support underneath—perfect for lounging, napping, or anyone who loves that laid-back, relaxed feel.

3. Balanced Comfort
The sweet spot. Starts firm and breaks in beautifully over time—delivering that “just right” balance between supportive and soft.

4. Supportive Sit
More structure, less sink. Ideal for those who prefer more back support or use their sofa as a multitasking zone (think reading, working, or hosting).

5. Extra Firm
Our most structured seat. Offers a polished look and consistent support that’s ideal for formal spaces or those who like very little give.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size bed does this sleeper sofa convert into?

Most of our sleeper sofas convert into either a full or queen-size bed. Each product page lists exact dimensions to ensure a perfect fit for your space.

Why are the cushions firmer than others on the market?

Our cushions are intentionally designed to start out slightly firmer than most, which is a hallmark of quality construction and high-density foam. This means they’ll hold their shape, provide better support, and soften gradually over time—so your sofa stays comfortable and durable for years to come.

Are sleeper sofas comfortable to sleep on every night?

Yes. Our sleepers are designed with high-density foam cushions and mattress-quality support. Both our fold-down and trundle-style designs are far superior to old-fashioned sleeper sofas with sagging mattresses, metal bars, and restless nights. While they’re perfect for overnight guests, many customers also use them for regular sleeping thanks to their supportive comfort.

How does the sleeper mechanism work?

Depending on the model, our sleepers either fold flat or pull out trundle-style. Both options are designed for smooth, easy conversion with minimal effort.

What is Coddle’s FingerGuard™ technology?

Our patented FingerGuard™ safety technology helps protect your hands when opening, adjusting, or closing your sofa. It’s built into the mechanism of all Coddle convertible sofas for safer everyday use.

Are the fabrics durable and easy to clean?

Yes! All of our sleepers are upholstered in performance fabrics that resist stains, are pet- and family-friendly, and clean easily with a damp cloth.

How is delivery handled?

Most sleeper sofas are delivered with FREE white glove service, which includes setup and packaging removal. Select smaller items ship via UPS threshold. Delivery options are noted at checkout.

Do convertible sofas require assembly?

Most of our sofas ship with FREE white glove delivery, which includes in-home setup and packaging removal. For smaller items that ship via UPS threshold, assembly is simple—usually attaching arms and legs. All of our sofas are designed to be easy to assemble and reassemble, making them just as simple to move between rooms as they are to set up the first time.

What is a “small double” bed?

A small double—sometimes called a three-quarter or Euro double—is about 48–49″ wide, compared to a U.S. full at 54″ wide. It comfortably sleeps one adult or two people who don’t mind getting cozy.

How does the Fold achieve 16 positions?

The Fold’s split back and adjustable arms move independently, giving you up to 16 different configurations for sitting, lounging, or sleeping.

Nice sofa. Needs less space

"Nice sofa. Needs less space than our previous futon sofa/sleeper. Pretty firm but sleeps one comfortably. Easy to lay it flat from the sofa position, and only needs to be pulled out a few inches to clear the wall behind it. Only question is: w to add a small shelf to cover the ~6” gap between the sofa back and the wall when it’s in upright position."

Very comfy!

"I live in a historical home with skinny doorways. I wanted to convert my office into my chic den but had great difficulty finding a sofa to fit down my skinny hallways and doorways. This one did the trick and it's very comfortable. Now my office can double as a guest room if needed."

Great multi purpose couch

"I have never bought a couch like this, so I was hesitant at first. After having it now I can say is absolutely worth the money because of the options it adds to my living room. I would highly recommend."

So Pleased With our New Fold

"I did a lot of research on sofas and sofa beds before going with the Fold, and I'm so happy I did. Delivery was smooth, assembly was easy for me and my husband. It's cushy but not too soft, looks great, folds down into a bed easily, and seems like it can withstand whatever comes it way from my two young sons and two cats. Very satisfied with our purchase and will recommend Coddle to everyone!"

— Jennifer L. (5/5)

Nice!

"I really like the fold convertible couch, however I don’t like the fact that we unable to place the sofa closer to the wall because of the way the sofa is made in the back."
